If so we should hook up to increase our newbie survival experience.

My 'rents are gonna grab it for me so I have somethin' to do while I'm out of

Ugh! I tried Beat 2 and 3 and found it very difficult to use. Granted, it WAS a beta, but it still made a bad impression on me.

Post some follow up if its worth the $50 price tag, though.

Cheers.

Kythden and I will be in SWG shortly after release. (We plan on a vacation until the 13th of July)

Kyth is the leader of a PA. Check it out at http://www.chaoticfury.net/ It's a small, tightknit group and I know he'd love to include LD members :)

I was there in beta. That was enough for me. Asheron's Call graphics makes all other mmorpgs look horrible. Ac is very streamlined. I look forward to a game that can top it and one that gives you a choice to be pk or not like Ac. SWG, Eve and Planetside are all PK. I'm just not into that realm.

No, you don't have to be PK in SWG. I've been in beta for months now and have never gone PK, as I'm not a PKer. As far as the graphics, they are customizable; they are highly detailed, what with actual grass waving in the wind and such. I would say the graphics are incredibly well done.

Just giving my opinion of beta.

SWG

I totaly agree with Scyon. and I am sad to say that we will be leaving AC once we get into SWG. We will miss all our friends in LD, and you are all welcome into the PA we will most likely be on the corbantus server.

Oof, I hope I can entice you over to SWG at least every once in a while. Panzer and Keebler, I can not even begin to thank you for the number of times you both pulled my but out of the fire with a corpse recovery.
Maxx you have been an awsome vassel (and I might add the only real one I have had :) well that stuck around any way.) PeeWee I just started to get to know you on the boards and in game but you ALWAYS make me laugh. You too Sassy.

I had alot of patrons before my wife found Oof, and she convinced me to leave the last one I had for him, at the time he was in Bloodsong, and I though that was a good monarchy, so when Oof switched patrons, to his orrig one, I was woried, but then I found out what a real good monarchy was like. I hope I can run a SWG PA as well as LD has turned out. Thank you to all the LDers, and I hope to see you in game.

I'll miss both Scyon and Kythden a lot. We used to hunt together quite a bit and have spend many a quality hour talking via the co-vassals channel.

I don't know if I'll try SWG (Star Wars, not the single white girl); a lot of it probably depends on the price tag. If I do go become a weekend-warrior Jedi Master, I will assuredly go into your PA, but my main hangout will continue to be LD.

Before anyone else asks, can I have your stuff? ;)
I'll try to hold it for when you come back, because you KNOW Asheron will introduce light sabers here, and you'll come back home again. :D

Kudos to everyone who enjoys SWG :multi:
The same kudos as for the few of us who still have AC2 accounts

http://content.guru3d.com/article.php?c ... genumber=1

$50 for CD and $15 per month.....

After reading that review I highly doubt I will play SWG.
Much of what is said there also applies to AC2 - as far as features, bugs and annoyances are concerned.
As I already know AC2 and I am not a Star Wars fanboi I want to avoid the anger of getting disappointed.

If the same negative review was for a Star Trek MMOPRG I probably would play it anyway

I think that is the destiny of ALL new MMORPGs :

Game is overhyped during 2-3 years of development & beta;
Too many rumours spread too fast;
The idea and various methods of MMORPGs become more and more common with every game that emerges - the "novelty factor" is not really existent any more.
Players become more and more experienced and less easily deceived by merchantise and "fanboidom".
So at release or last beta people recognize that those developers did not re-invent the wheel and that the game has basically the same flaws/problems than the games before.
Some like it, maybe more don't like it. Some will stay, some will threaten to leave when the next over-hyped MMORPG comes, some will actually leave.

What is written there could have been copied from an AC2 review - although everybody and their mother said "Sony will not make the same mistakes as MS/Turbine - look how well they drive EverQuest".

And I even assume this review will be as valid for the over-hyped Horizons as well.

Grabbed this from Gamespot.com:
LucasArts says that the registration problems experienced by players trying to log in to Galaxies for the first time are due to server failures and should be resolved today.

The highly anticipated Star Wars Galaxies started appearing in retail stores today, but many players trying to log in to the game for the first time have run into error messages during the initial registration process. LucasArts has explained to us that Sony Online, the game's developer, had planned for the first-day rush of players by installing more servers than the company has had for any previous product launch. However, not so many players were expected to have the game so early in the day, as soon as the servers went live. The heavy traffic, combined with hardware failures, has overloaded the registration servers.

A LucasArts representative said that "all hands are on deck" at Sony Online trying to smooth out the game's launch. The developers estimate that new hardware will be installed today that will resolve the registration problems. According to a new update on the official forums, "There is more work to do on the subscription servers, but we’ve doubled our numbers of people online and playing in the last hour." Once players are able to register, the game is said to be running fine. At last count, there are more than 1,400 players in the game.
Gee, only the most eagerly followed sci-fi franchise in history goes online and they didn't expect players to have the game so early? These are the people who camped outside theaters for 3 months!!!

Anyone who even remotely follows PC games could have told them that ANY number of servers for launch would be too few. They coulda doubled the number of servers and still had problems . . . That's how the birth of these games go.

Yet another feather in Sony's cap. Good job! I think I'm gonna stick with AC.

I forgot to mention :

For $50 + $15 per month you get.......

.....exactly ONE character on ONE server.
