Creature in relationship w/war & life + War at VoD

Post by Aero » Sat Jun 21, 2003 1:22 am

Say a mage has war and/or life trained (not spec). If they spec creature and can lower the magic d of the creature 40 points with level 7 yield.

Is the war or life more effective?

Does war or life have to be spec if skill points are scarce?

It has been said that war has to be specialized to hunt in VoD. Now this may be true for a level 75-100 battle mage that has a base war of 300 to 320, but what about a level 130 to 150 that has only trained war with the same base? The level 75 to 100 just doesn't have the xp to raise a trained base this high without spec.

So is this what is meant by having to spec war to hunt at VoD or does it mean the base war has to be at a certain point?

basically... peopel say that you have to have such and such speced as full of it....

whatever system you find works best for you is the way to go....

personally I found that war / critter spec works the best at lower levels follwoed by brign g up life to spec at the later levels (90+)
I'm thinking about not thinking which when you think about it really makes the whole thing kind of thoughtless.

Spec run... then dump everything into quickness.... and run your butt out of there.

Regarding VoD, the only thing official that I read is that you need to have a magic skill buff to 400 in order to land roughly 50% of the time. I'm sure that varies creature by creature, but that's what I read from a dev somewhere, as I recall.

Life is not more effective if the creatures are yielded, other than the fact you are 40 points more likely to be able to land on them (your magic skill vs. the creature's magic resistance).

War will be more effective if the creature is yielded, since there is supposedly a war damage bonus based on the difference between your war skill and the creature's magic resistance.

Well yes we would all like to be able to specialize war, life, creature and magic d, but that would mean 76 points for specialties plus 14 more for item and mana c. Damn, 2 lousy points :?

But because we are limited, the trick is to find the best combination that allows you to kill at VoD while solo in record time. Cause if you can kill fast there (and I mean in 30 seconds or less, not 2 to 3 minutes), you would rack up some heavy xp very quickly. The secret to fast Xp is to kill the highest point creatures that you can take easily. If it takes you 2 minutes to kill a creature for 400k, and 5 seconds to kill a creature for 25k, the latter is the best choice for 600k. But if you can kill the same 400k creature in 30 seconds, you would receive an extreme amount of Xp (40 to 45 mil per hour - solo).

Not sure this is possible on AC, but then the next option is to come up with a "tag" team. Two players working together as a team. Both with high defenses. One with high creature and war (or other weapon) and the other with high life and war (or other weapon). Any additional players in the fellow (if any) would might take off additional time to the kill. If you had 4 such tag teams in a fellow, this may beat all other known Xp records.

I hunt there with both Shindhi (War/Life spec) and Phade (Critter/Life spec)

Shindhi is 143 and Phade is 177, but Shin kills stuff much faster out there because his war spells aren't resisted nearly as often.

I would actually suggest Critter/War spec would be the ideal though. as even with shin I sometimes have to yield stuff (when debuffed especially) and his critter skill just isn't up to it

Thanks Phade, that's good information. Anyone else been experiencing this?
