This is the latest installment of a frequently updated series of reports on the State of the Network for Asheron's Call. In this report, we keep players informed as to the state of some of the more technical aspects of AC, particularly the status of the servers for the various worlds, as well as to inform players of scheduled maintenance downtime.

Are you curious about the “Health of the Internetâ€￾? Here are links to some “Internet Weather Sitesâ€￾. These sites can be used to help determine some of the reasons you may be experiencing increased lag while using the internet or playing games that use the internet, such as Asheron's Call.

Upcoming Server Downtimes:

Solclaim Hardware Upgrade, Monday, June 9th, 9am PT
Over the past several weeks, many of you have participated in helping us test the ShadowClaim test world, where we were trying out new hardware for Asheron’s Call. Those tests went very well (thank you, to all who participated!), so we’re ready to take the next step.

On Monday, June 9th at 9:00am PT (Noon ET) we will be taking Solclaim down and moving this world to new and improved hardware. Our goal in this process is to extend the life and improve the performance of the AC1 worlds for several years to come and this is another step in that process. Our testing efforts on Shadowclaim have been met with a great deal of success and we are ready to take the next step in our hardware migration plans.

When we take the servers down on Monday morning, we will be backing up the existing Solclaim database along with the character information and data from the world. Once the world is back online, you'll find that you can pick up right where you left off before the world went offline. All your character information and data will be right as it was before. Hopefully, you will also notice improved sever performance once we complete this important transition.

We will be watching the progress of the new Solclaim hardware very closely and have extensive backup plans in place in the event we see any kind of negative performance from the new hardware systems. In the event something doesn't go right with the new hardware rollout, we have a plan in place to move Solclaim back to it's original hardware and there should be nary a hiccup in the process. Some of you may be asking "Is there anything bad that can happen to my character or my gear if we have to go back to the old hardware?" The answer is still "no" because the hardware swap doesn't affect the character database.

We're looking forward to Monday and the opportunity to improve the performance of the other AC1 worlds in the months ahead and for years to come.

Thanks,
The AC Team

I can't get to it, but is it just Solclaim that is down right now? I thought we determined that they were actually putting several worlds on one server.

Personally I think they are putting several worlds onto the one server. I think they're upgrading the hardware to handle it. That's my oponion for what it's worth. ;)
