. . . if you've got bright orange duct tape holding the front of your clothes dryer together.

In the process of figuring out what was wrong with our dryer (turns out it was a tripped breaker, duh), the belt that turns the drum came loose and we couldn't figure out how it threaded back on. This morning we finally found a great website, fixitnow.com, that shows you how to fix your own appliances without having to call a service repairman every time. There are message boards, diagrams, even color photos. We found a color photo of how the belt threads on, took the laptop to the dryer, and fixed it in a trice. Upon putting it back together, though, we misplaced the nuts that go on the screws that hold the front of the dryer on. By this time, I was desperate to wash and dry clothes, so my husband pulled out the "handyman's secret weapon," duct tape. It wouldn't be so bad if the local hardware store didn't close at noon on Saturdays. That's never made sense to me, that a hardware store would close at noon on Saturday, when most people are home, fixing things and doing around.

Sorry for the ramble. I'm just glad the dryer's working again (cross your fingers).
