True Friend
Don't be sad or shed your tears,
For untrue friends who soothed your ears.
The words "I love you" are easy to say,
But the truest friends won't go away.
No matter your faults or crying eyes,
A true friend hides behind no guise.
With truth on lips and helping hand,
A true friend lends you strength to stand.
The truest friend accepts your faults,
And in your smile friend's heart exhaults.
Then when true friend makes a mistake,
Admits the error with heart not fake.
True friends care to see you smile,
And cry with you if you cry a while.
For true friends feel close to your heart,
And from your side won't ever part.
Don't be sad or shed your tears,
The truest friends last the years.
Be true to you and you will see,
That's what true friends want you to be.
Don't be fooled by a seeking heart,
Giving love is a true friend's part.
The truth one gives may hurt a bit,
But a caring heart is giving it.
If you aren't sure what friend is true,
Ask yourself if it's helping you.
Are the words for another's need?
Are the acts an unselfish deed?
So shed no tears for untrue praise,
Raise your eyes to the true friend's gaze.
That true friend looks to help your heart,
And the truest friend won't ever part.
