Can You Say XP?

Post by Heatmiser » Thu Jul 24, 2003 4:16 pm

Swarm Mutilator: 117k
Swarm Warrior: 68k
Swarm Guardian: 41k

These things spawn by the hundreds on open ground on Asheron's Island.
Solo, and stopping for salvage I was clocking 12million/hr.

Imagine a full fellow out there.

This is VoD grade xp.

Maybe we should do some experiments with horizontal bots here.

I wonder how big the landblock is. (Could you place a bot on the beach near Eastham and get xp?)

I am sure you could place the bot in Ashy's Castle.

Wouldn't surprise me. The question there would be one of convenience for the hunters. If it's not on the way, they won't fellow with it.

What about Asheron's Tower? I had a gig last night and didn't get to check out the island, so is it feasible to park a bot up at the top where the bugs can't get to it? Apparently the island is just full of bugs; is there anyplace that is decently far from a spawn?

Im not real familiar with the island yet. The east side is where the bugs I just mentioned spawn. I have been in the 80+ dungeon. Haven't been to the castle yet.

As a matter of personal preference, I'd like to ask that someone who has a character sworn to Borg be the candidate for running any fellow bots for AI. That's so I can hunt fellowed with them on any of my characters and still be pushing Podunkmer toward his 126 goal. Podunkmer, being dagger, is a slower bug-killer than some of my other characters that have bludge weapons, and more importantly, Olthoi Slayer weapons. :)

I think I will need to do at 4, as many as 6 Gaerlan runs to get the dagger. Does anyone know the order? Ranking Podunkmer's skills in descending order:

Life Magic - 12 - Saulandoi
Melee Defense - 10 - Dauloirae
Creature Enchantment - 8
Item Enchantment - 8
Mana Conversion - 6 - Ring of Intellect
Missile Defense - 6 - Saelgaloi
Healing - 6
Dagger - 4 - Sacraloi
Arcane Lore - 4 - Bracelet of Knowledge
Magic Resistance - 0 - Daulan Faur

Whereas right now, Keshi has two of the wands, and being a mage has access to bludgeoning damage. I also have a UA character who has the Gauraloi and will be training Melee Defense sometime soon (I think). Also, I've got a tank bow character who would probably only have to go twice to get the Lautaloi.

I guess I need to start leading these again and hope that they don't get interrupted by RL emergencies like last time. :)

Not as many times as you think, if you are specialized in it.

Wait the Olthoi Slayer Weapons hit harder than AR?

What about Bludgeon Rending?

I haven't seen any specific comparisons between Olthoi Slayer and Bludge Rending; I just know that both of them rock.

Olthoi Slayer and Tumerok Slayer got really big boosts, apparently Elemental Slayer still stinks, at least in melee due to high armor level of elementals.

Olthoi Slayer tests: http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?top ... replies=10
*No vulns were used.
**All damage was done with Shock Arc VII.

Average Damage for Olthoi Slayer Wand: 253
Average Damage for Normal Wand: 159

--Average Olthoi Slayer Damages to differnt Olthoi Breeds--

Olthoi Warrior: 242
Olthoi Eviscerator: 267
Altered Olthoi: 248
Augumented Olthoi: 250
Olthoi Soldier: 1 Shot

--Average Normal Wand Damages to different Olthoi Breeds--

Olthoi Warrior: 163
Olthoi Eviscerator: 137
Altered Olthoi: 145
Augumented Olthoi: 150
Olthoi Soldier: 180

--=Conclusion=--
Olthoi Slayer owns Olthoi North.
Another quote from that thread says this:
I can't tell you what the average damage per lvl 7 war bolt is on an Olthoi Warrior with a Bludg Rend wand at 325 base war.

That's because 90% of the time you'll 1-shot them.

White Sapphire => Lots of dead bugs.
As for Tumerok Slayer, I can't find the post, but someone was using an assault orb in VoD and their war spells were hitting (with Vuln 7) for something like 750-1000, with crits up around 1500.

So I would say that bludge rending bow, xbow, wand, UA, morningstar, hammer, or whatever is a necessary addition to anyone's collection, but until then, Olthoi Slayer will do a damn fine job chez Asheron.

I've been using a 128mod +12 BR bow out there.

Providing I don't miss, Swarm Mutilators go down in 4 shots. 2 shots if a get a crit. Thats a very quick 117k.

I can imagine how hard a 166 BR bow would hit.
