There isn't really a level order in the Order of Hyssop. Everyone is 126+ and are placed into the chain based on the date they joined. See this link for some details http://www.lastdynasty.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2068 plus the original writeup on it is buried in the boards here. I was surprised at how quickly posts fall off the first page (and how far they fall) in this forum. I think I will either find the original post and sticky it or will spell out how things work on placement a little more fully in the link above.

The original creation of the Order of Hyssop took everyone who applied before the deadline and basically collapsed the existing structure from the Food Chain into the Order of Hyssop. The primary reason for doing this was to maintain as much as possible the patron/vassal relationship. At 240 hours of ingame time sworn to your patron, your effective loyalty is doubled. It takes a long time to build up 240 hours of ingame time but once it is done, it can make a huge long-term difference in the XP generated by the chain.

Several of the characters who are now in the Order of Hyssop got to retain their patron/vassal relationship during the move; some of us didn't. Inserting people into the Order of Hyssop at their real level means we would be breaking and re-swearing within the chain a lot. That disrupts XP flow and resets the loyalty bonuses to zero everytime that happens. By putting new inserts at the bottom, we can swear a string of characters together, prior to placement in the chain. Then, with minimal disruption to the chain, we can insert that string of characters. A few things to keep in mind are that every character in the Order of Hyssop is on top of both the Casual Chain and the Food Chain; everyone in the Order of Hyssop is 126+, has already proven they can hunt, and the XP should be good everywhere in the chain; and there is the possibility of moving up within the chain, just not during placement.

If someone thinks they have out-hunted their patron enough to be moved up, they should say something to one of the managers or post a request. Then we will look at the XP generated by both patron and vassal since joining the Order of Hyssop, see how things look and make a determination on leveling. I'll try to write up a more complete explanation of this later and post it.

The short answer to your question is that you are where you are supposed to be in the chain.

I am not whining about where I ended up. Its just after joining this 12mil chain, I have actually moved down considerably on the chain listings which does bother me. I have numerous lower levels above me, and I know for a fact that I hunt alot more than 50% of them. I mean I went from being under Da-won, to where I am now, thats a huge drop in my eyes and just don't understand why. I see where your coming from as far as Xp's being passed up through casual and regular food. I just wanted to ask, and was concerned.

Thx Az

I'm sorry Az, I didn't mean for the post to sound like I was getting onto you, or anything like that. You asked a question, which usually means their are other people thinking of similar questions, so I thought I would try to post a fairly comprehensive answer to it. No whining intended.

You need to add the possibility to re-add people to where they *where*, not just above their patron. I personally feel pretty shafted, but oh well, heh. :|

Khaz, I'm sorry you feel shafted by your current placement. I assure you there was nothing personal in your placement at all. It would have been a benefit to me if you could have stayed as my patron. I lost the loyalty bonus I had been building up with you and now have to hunt a little bit harder to make quota.

The announcements about the creation of the Order of Hyssop was up on the boards for over a week, and you had the same amount of time to read the boards (a requirement for chain members anyway) and respond as every other chain member. If we made an exception for you "because you missed the post" where do we stop? With you? With the person who posted after you? The announcements were posted and a deadline was set. We can no more make people read the boards than we can make people complete move orders within a day, no matter how much I wish we could.

The rest of this post is addressed to everyone in the chain, not just Khaz.

The chain exists for the greater benefit of all of the members, overall. Whatever is best overall for the chain is what we are trying to do. Typical XP passup percentage for hunted XP is roughly 25%. With maxed loyalty bonus (the 240 hours of ingame time to the same patron I keep talking about), the percentage goes to maybe 40%. As loyalty is raised that difference gets larger. Losing that extra % of XP passed up in order to insert someone at a particular place inside a 126+ chain loses that XP forever.

I'm going to use an extra 10% as an example because the math is easy; however, the difference may by well over 10% depending on your loyalty. If we don't break apart patron/vassal relationships then that 10% is added XP, added free without any effort at all. 10% of 100 million a day works out to 300 million XP a month. That's 300 million free XP a month, just for keeping the same patron. We can either leave people sworn in place and get that XP, or move people around to do inserts (thereby resetting the loyalty bonus to zero hours again) and lose the XP.

It is WAY better for the chain to disturb patron/vassal relationships as little as possible. The problem with this is that it is a long term thing. 240 ingame hours is two months of playing four hours a day, every day. As the chain stabilizes, and that bonus begins to buildup, it will result in much better XP for the chain overall. Also, keep something else in mind about the 10% or so of extra XP you get from having a high loyalty bonus: as you pass up the extra 10% or so of your hunted XP it becomes vassal XP to your patron, and he/she will pass up 93.75% of that, in addition the XP earned by your patron.

People can still earn the right to move up in the chain. It will be based on how much XP you earn after being placed in the Order of Hyssop compared to your patron. If you hunt harder than the other people, you deserve to move up, and taking a temporary hit on the loyalty bonus is just part of that. The way we have the Order of Hyssop set up is the most effecient way we could come up with to be the fairest to EVERYONE concerned, and to maximize the XP production overall for entire chain.

I don't mean to sound harsh about any of this (and I'm not feeling harsh about anything  ). Work the numbers and do the math. As people hunt hard enough to pass their patron, we will gladly move them up. As additional characters continue to enter the chain, you will move up. Give us a couple of months and then look to see if you're satifisfied with the XP being passed up through the Order of Hyssop.

/me thinks you will like the XP that is generated.

Look at the big picture!!

Yeah, it really had a lot to do with how hard the guys five or so spots down from you are hunting. I can honestly say, I'd love to have AC and Mith as the two spots below me. :)

Sea, you can get in, in 3 weeks roughly. (One quota period. Within this period, you must make the same quota as the Order of Hyssop to let us know you can handle the quota)

I did forget about where Acaddict and Mithacal are in the chain yes. I was quite the happy camper when Acaddict was sworn to me for a while before he joined the chain. I could have gotten by without hunting at all and still been way over quota. :D

Seabrook, with tomorrow being Friday, and since I only work a half day on Friday, I'll look at dates and all of that and will send you a PM with details. I will also start setting up for the next set of insertions, which you will be a part of. More info to you tomorrow.

I have a question. Was the xp reset with this whole mess on the boards? I thought i had built up a little reservoir of xp. I am not angry or even miffed. Just a little confused. Please do not cofuse this with whining because xp wise, the xp i made will still be passed up and i was planning on playing a few hours tomorrow in VoD so quota will not be a problem. I guess my question is "Can a buffer up xp for the sole purpose to be earned to hold off quota for a week or so, so that i may have a life?" 8)
I assume others feel the same with vacations, school, or football camps (in my case)

Yes all the xp data was reset, and yes you can stock up XP, we check our quotas on a 21 day basis.

So, i will have to hope for the week to be within a 21 day period?

Coincidentally, we're all at day 1. So you have 20 days before your quota period starts over.

Remember, quota is 100% capped at 6 million for FC PER WEEK, and 100% capped at 12 million for OH PER WEEK.
