I have to devide my playing time between AC1 and AC2 (don't laugh - I still play it).

One decision help is our Meginjarder web-page which shows who is online.
But of course it only can show MJ users, so the more people use MJ the more show online and the more I would decide for AC1

I am considering to extend the page to show also the current location. I have to weigh up privacy and situations like "looking for people in VoD".

I thought MJ already shows you the coords of people if you click on them?

Maybe it's a different plugin I'm thinking of?

Not to be rude or anything but this is exactly why I don't use MJ. I love all the other features but don't always want everyone knowing where I am.

So, even if you don't see people on the MJ list talk on IRC anyway. There are several of us on the IRC channel that won't be listed everywhere in MJ.

 opps you run tank so we can just tell you cords and u will tell us anyways hehe. So it shouldn't be that big of a deal anyways. But it would be a nice feature to have on MJ when u are tryin to find someone who is lost

I have a hard time finding fellows as well, but the MJ has made a huge difference finding fellows. I'm also always out at OP, I love it out there! So put me on your friends list.

Yes it does - but you have to be ingame to do that
I want to know who is in VoD (for instance, or even who is online generally) by opening a web page outside the game - as a decision helper whether to log into AC1 or AC2 (or even AO ).

But of course if anyone is offended by letting others know their location (like Sassy implied above) I can log into AC2 instead of checking.

BTW Sassy - if I login AC1 instead to /tell you ingame and ask you where you are - do you deny an anwer or give a misguiding one ? What is the point in this secrecy ?
If you DO anwer my /tell - why not use MJ (or enable location display in ElTank) which does not tell me more than your answer would ?

No offense intended, I am just curious....

I might just say something like I'm just running around hunting or goofing off. Someone jokingly made a comment about being stalked. But believe it or not it does happen. And I guess some past experiences in this game have left me a bit gunshy and wanting to protect my privacy as much as I can.

It's seems weird I know and I'm working on getting over it. :D

Wow, Trekman, I didn't know that page existed. That is very cool. :D

Question for you: Is it possible to have only users who have flagged it is okay to show their location actually have a location listed on the MJ Web page? What I'm asking about is something similar to adding oneself to the Recovery Team, where we can add or take ourselves off the "User is Located at " list.

Generally speaking, I MUCH prefer hunting with people to hunting alone and would be very happy to have my location published so people know to /tell me if they want to hunt.

Please keep in mind I have no idea really how Meginjarder is controlled, so I may be asking you an impossible thing to do, but what I was thinking is if there is an easy way for people to tell MJ to publish our location when we're hunting, and also to not publish our location if we are selling or goofing off, perhaps people would use the feature extensively.

BTW, the URL that pulled up when I clicked on your link is pretty long. Is there a short, uncluttered URL I can add to my signature to help point people to the MJ Web page?

Me too. I don't object to the listing because I want to be a loner. It has more to do with keeping certain people from following me around..aka..stalking.

Drats! I didn't know you had noticed me.

Oh, and Sassy, I wasn't referring to you with the "prefer hunting" part; it was mostly because I find myself hunting solo a lot. You are one of the most sociable people I know, which speaks volumes either 1) about your nature, or 2) about the size of my circle of acquaintances.

  Somehow its funny : when I said I do not want to talk to EVERYbody EVERYtime - I got bashed because "this is an online game, meant for player interaction".

But if at least two people say they like to hunt alone and hide their location within Dereth in fear of being stalked (whatever that means in an anonymous game) - nobody of those bashers raises the voice ?
Now the game isn't about "player interaction" anymore ?

Joking aside - I can imagine to adapt the server side of MJ to hide the location. I cannot change the plugin GUI itself, so the command will have to be from chatline - like the Wish-List and Offer-List I created and nobody uses yet (/e already stops to whine).
