Debt problem

Post by Aero » Tue Jul 29, 2003 1:38 am

I log on tonight and see that i am in debt for first time (-11 mil). I can't hunt much on weekdays cause I get up early and work 12-14 hour days during the week, but I buff up and head to vod and meet up with a lot of clan members (qaz, lady, sinister, azma, drak, etc.). I bring in 26 mil and I have to log off to get sleep. But when I check my debit, it only went down 4 mil to -7mil. How much do I need to earn make quota? I thought it was 12 mil a week with a possible 3 mil raise.

Its 12million passup, which roughly equates to 48million actual hunt, since you passup about 25% of what you make yourself.

25% is just a round number used for figuring passup. For most higher lvl characters the passup is higher because your loyalty is higher, but still 25% is a safe number to calculate from because if anything it will be on the low end.

Also, please remember your quota increases daily to the tune of about 1.8million xp.

So lets say you send in an update on Monday and see that you are 4million down. The next day, to catch up, you will have to make up that 4million plus the 1.8million you will owe for that day.

So if you get on and make 16million, you will put roughly 25% of that into the chain. That would be 4million. You might log off thinking you're caught up, but in reality, you'd still need to make Tuesday's 1.8million to break even.

Now take that 1.8million and times that by the number of days since your last update. If you didn't make up your debt, all those days will add their 1.8million to your real debt.

The moral of the story (and this is for everyone who reads this): This is why your managers like you to update ACstats daily if you can. That keeps you from getting unpleasant quota suprises, because you know exactly where you stand on a daily basis.

Short version :D : Hunt for 48 million per week. You probably need less than that.

How much you need to earn will vary, depending on your loyalty and your loyalty bonus. How much you need to pass up is 12 million per week. Generally speaking, most people at 126+ will probably pass up between 25 - 30 percent of what they make from hunting, possibly up to about 40 percent. If you figure a worst case of 25 percent pass up, you need to gross about 48 million per week from hunting.

One thing to be very aware of when hunting to make quota is that a percentage of the XP you show that you are earning while you hunt is XP that is passing up from below you in the chain. Depending on what you meant, part of the 26 million you hunted for wasn't actually from your hunting, but rather from your chain vassal.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the quota page numbers are dependent on your upload cycles and those of your vassal. If you and your vassal hunt and update every day the numbers on the quota page will remain consistent. However, if you hunt once or twice a week (this is made worse if your vassal does the same) your numbers can make big changes from day to day. The quota page reports the most recent 21 day period. It is very possible that you had a day of hunting from three weeks ago fall out of the calculation windows. If that day of hunting was following by three days of inactivity, it will temporarily skew the quota numbers unless some of those days of inactivity also fall out of the calculation window.

With all of the above being said, here is what I think happened. You JUST swore into the OH, so your loyalty bonus was reset to zero. It will take 240 hours of ingame time to rebuild that to the point where it doubles your loyalty numbers. Also, I just reset your required quota from 6 million per week to 12 million per week. As soon as I do that, it recalculates you XP as if you had been under a 12 million quota for the last three weeks. Don't worry about it right now if your numbers look off. It will take a little bit of time for things to normalize again. Hunt whatever you are able, and 48 million raw XP produced each week should be enough to comfortably meet the quota requirements. Two or three hours per week in a good VoD fellowship and you should be set. The quota numbers on the chain page will work themselves out automatically. :)

TIP O THE DAY:
Download and install Real Estate and El Tank. Turn off your windows screensaver.
turn on eltank, leave yourself in market or your house.
Tell it to buff ONLY your willpower, leader, and loyal.

Leave it overnight every night for a while.

Thanks guys. Your professionalism really shows here. I will try to get on again this week, but only time I can do that is if it rains or something and we get off at 5-6pm and don't have an early start time the next morning. I live in one of the USA's highest construction areas and we are hauling concrete like it was free.

I should easily get 48 mil a week, but wil try to get much more than that to set things straight. Those poor creatures!

Strange idea Lagmatic. What does that do?

Real estate checks for available housing. It's not really designed specifically to keep you loggin in, but it does that nicely. I run el-tank in buff only mode and haven't been disconnected due to timeouts yet, but I'm not sure if that is because tank sends updates regularly enough to keep the ISP from disconnecting me, or if they don't use an idle timeout to dsconnect people who stay logged on all night.

DL and I (Qaz) also work during the week and we try to play about 1-2 hrs each night, but on Saturdays or Sundays or both. And if we can we play. we play all day really hard. That is the only way we have the exp pts covered. I too have been using El Tank in buff mode only to bring my loyalty bonus up logged on all night.

Just got off work -- 10:15pm. Now that was late. So no time to play tonight.

Oh I see. Staying logged on 24/7 will get your loyalty bonus up (240 IG hours). Will do. Hope to be on again soon.

I think Qaz made a few adjustments to some of my puter settings so maybe...just maybe I can stay logged on while I sleep to get my loyalty bonus built up again....:)

LOL

I found both programs and tried it but El Tank would not start up. After I turned the computer off I remembered that you can't run Bandit Sight at the same time as El Tank, so I will try again.

UPDATE EDIT: Nope, still doesn't work. I even tried force buff and I see this on screen: <ELTank> Forced Buff Activated!, but nothing happens. I have tried El Tank before and it would work fine (but too slow for archers). I have version 2.6.0.1. Any ideas?
