Allow me to *doubt* this.

Since we went on to the new stats system, I have never reached the 21 days - and I did upload regularly.

The 'rollover' means the time is reset to 0. With doubling of the quota, these rollovers will happen more quickly.

I don't mind the resets - but they effectively prohibit you from building up a reserve and then taking a break.

True enough on the four billion thing, but that still doesn't happen all that often. Four billion is a LOT of xp.

Plus, that's what us carbon-based units are for, to make allowances for those occassions when the computers don't handle something correctly.

/me hopes the computers didn't read this post

Oof, what I'm trying to say is : I'm convinced the rollover does not happen at four billion. It happens way sooner.

Then it's probably not a good idea to do the wait-till-the-end-then-hunt-your-ass-off approach.

Oh, my bad Luang, you're right on that, I had forgotten. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll check with Ranger on this and see if he can modify the way the database handles that.

In the meantime, we can simply keep an eye on the numbers. It seems like I spend more time watching the boards and the chain page than I spend ingame. If someone's numbers reset, we can make adjustments for that.

Especially as someone starts getting several days worth of data built up, I usually notice what their passup is. If everything is okay I go on with my business. If someone is close to failing quota, I'll take note of that for possible follow-up.

The goal in all of the chain sections is to help people stay in, not to remove them if an opportunity arises. I know I took a hard line about removals in the post explaining the 12 million section, and I will be firm about that, but it is really aimed at people who don't check the boards, or who only update maybe one time per week, or who are chronic quota failers. For people who play and update regularly, there will be no problems.

BTW, this reply isn't directed at Luang, it serves as a public service announcement to everyone. Thanks again Luang for reminding me about the 21 day reset; I'll get with Ranger about that and see what the solution is.

luang, the 4.2 rollover happens in two places.

When you have pushed 4.2 bil to your patron.
Or when you have received 4.2 bil from your vassal.

These two events never happen at the same time,
but both cause exp to reset in my system.

I admit, Dave, I'm not the greatest xp-maker. I'm struggling to make the quota (that's why I'll stay in the 6 mil part of the chain).

So, Ranger, the billions that I push to my patron, will not happen that often.

But 4 billions from my vassal ? Do you have an idea (roughly) how much xp that would mean I'm receiving ?

sorry luang besides totals for your other vassals, I only keep track of the key vassal.

So far with your vassal, you have had 2 rollovers

Id like to get raging Fists into this part of the chain. Now that Im back and have deceided to get back into the chain I may as well be playing with the big boys. Ask Thorgrim about my ability to make some xps if you are wondering.
Raging Fists, lvl 126+ MeleeD/War Mage
Unbridled Rage, lvl 126+ Spearman of Doom
Raging Hound, lvl 105+ Melee Archer

Whenever reason or planning will not save the day perhaps a little RAGE will carry you through.

Okay Ranger, I've had two rollovers.
Don't get me wrong : I love your work, you've did a great job coding the new stats page.

My point was : If I have two rollovers since the starting of the new stats page, with my 'limited' xp production - how are you guys going to manage a chain where double the xp is produced, with even more rollovers as a consequence ?

I think you will see lots of 'failed' without good reason.

It makes sense that rollovers will occur more often; however, we can also see when they happen and if a rollover is the cause for a Failed status, we will need to take that into account. Worst case scenario, and I hope it doesn't mean this, we have a manager whose main job is to track XP on a daily basis if needed, and who will write down the numbers as a character gets close to rolling over.

Of course, as a thought, since it rolls over at the same amount each time, I'm guessing we could simply add the 4 billion and change (I don't recall the exact number right now) to a characters reported status and that would give us an accurate assessment of how they are doing. Someone check my logic here, does that make sense?
