Wow, I just got my Necklace! I think that quest is a lot of hype, it's alot easier than people make it sound. Just soloed it, I think a group is definitely going to give you a chance of being killed.

Soloing it was cake. Just bane the heck out of yourself, strap on a baned shield, and run it. I was past each golem before he even stood up. The dungeon is EXTREMELY SIMPLE. Look at acmaps, learn it. And then do it. By the time I got to the chest, unlocked it, and then recalled, they only got 5 swings on me, and one war. I evaded the melee attacks and took 10 points of war.

And if you really want to boogie out of there quick, just use one of the rewards portal gems, because the recall is instaneous. No casting motion, even less time

Worst part of the quest is grabbing those stupid pages!

So take my word, and others. Get the pages as a group, but then run one at a time through the High dungeon. Buff, bane, run, grab, recall! A,B,C...easy as 1,2,3 8)

LOL.. Just like you all said (Ian and Oof and all..) .. Just buff and bane up. Portal in. Run like hell to the chest before any of the golems have a chance to stand up. Grab the necklace and portal (recall). Easy.

Well .. almost.

Mistake Number (1) : I was runnig with only life prots .. no banes. The damage I was taking was adding up when I got to the chest. :?

Mistake Number (2) : I get to the chest and in my excitment I just double click to open .. wrong! I then realize my mistake  .. hit the F12 key for my inventory .. grab for the mouse .. double click the key .. slide the mouse pointer over to the chest .. double click the chest .. the chest started to open .. now refer to Mistake Number One. The damage I was slowly taking on during all this finally added up ...

I died

OK .. Damage was minimal .. 5k of pyreal and seven Sultan Robes (good death items :P ). Not worth the recovery.

Im taking a break here .. need to do some RL work. I will be coming back for another try later tonight around 9 pm EST .. and get it right this time! Banes will be in place this time and should slow down the damage to allow me plenty of time .. and I will "shortcut key" the chest key this time to speed the opening. :)

I must admit .. my shock when I first arrived in that dungeon :o and saw all the golems on both sides of me. Then my common sense took control and I ran for the chest......

LOL, very impressive first site. A little intimidating looking down and seeing ALL those Golems lying below you!

hehe .. As you all very well know .. When you portal into a dungen for the first time, you'll see the radar and critters in it before the portal spiral mist clears. Being the first time to enter there (with the downloading still going on) I could clearly see a crowd of (previously known from reading) golems on the next level down. So I mentally got myself ready for finding my way, thinking that things could had been changed with the patch. (A map was on the screen on my other computer here .. showing no lower level.)

Well .... :o

Imagine my shock when the portal mist cleared .. and I found myself in mid air .. falling into the center of the crowd of golems.

BTW .. I am doing this with an older char of mind and not my top of the line main char. A level 52 sword / melee D spec char is a strong char .. but there are limits....

Fooey ..

Well .. two more attempts tonight were failures. With the 3 portal crystals to get into that dungeon, I use one earlier as I described in the earlier post. The second crystal found me getting trigger happy and not paying attention. I ran into one of the lower level chamber. I recalled out of there and went on to make one more final run at getting the jewel. I did a little bit better but I found it was still intense and my toon died within seconds of getting the jewel. :x

Its simple .. just grab the jewel .. even if I die. All I loose is a closet full of sulkin robe death items.

I think I was tired tonight and that was my downfall.

Anycase, I need to wait a week now before I can make another attempt.

Maybe someone would care to join me for the run in to distract a few golems .. any volunteers?

Found out, it is in fact possible with a high level archer (433 melee d) to stand in a corner in one of the hallways to stand and tank the golems.

I think once I get my magic d up 30 more points or so I'll hunt there more often =)

let me know if you need a CR in there and if I have a gem handy I'll go get it
