Possibly for a sword character. I think Sol Chen managed to do it at level 38 or 39 with an xbow character. I'm not sure if you could keep up with Gaerlan's regen rate. I think he's designed to be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to solo at any level group.

I'd definitely say you need a fairly good group. Mostly a mage or two to debuff gaerlan so that you can keep up with his vicious regeneration rate. Also, if you don't have a decen't melee defense, he'll shave his flaming sword down your throat... it ain't pretty.
