Sometimes I REALLY love living in Houston. For example, take a look at whats sitting over my head right now:

And no, that is not a big fluffy donut, it Hurricane Claudette raining over half of southeast Texas.

Golly, I'm in Killeen, TX now, not too far from you and we have blue skies and heat. I must just be on the edge. Doesn't that just figure?

um sent it my way, i would love to see it rain for a while.

That was still the most sureal scene... it really was like a bomb went off.
The road looked like it was astro turf with all the chewed up leaves and grass on it. (I remember thinking "Who painted the back door green" it was just coated with it).

I remember going through Charleston and playing a game of "name the fast food place" by the shape of their signs. All that was left were frames of signs. (When the signs weren't twisted clean to the ground).

Every pine tree snapped in half about 15 feet off the ground. Root systems from overturned oak trees that eclipsed houses.

I saw a car, flattened to about a foot high.

I also remember it was one of the very few times in my life when people helped one another. Everyones power was out for weeks, so, instead of throwing away food, there were bbq's in every back yard, you could walk through any neighborhood and get a free meal.

And, when people on one side of the street would get power back, there would be power cords across the street to their neighbors.


Opps... sorry, went off down memory lane there for a bit.

I live in Tornado Alley....those sirens scare me to death and I wish I was safely in Nova Scotia when they go off......I would rather take my chances in a hurricane than a tornado.

However....I do sypathize with anyone who has to suffer through severe weather of any type...it's not fun....especially the aftermath.

And there was me looking forward to a little thunderstorm this afternoon.

I guess i cant complain, SLC doesnt get much extreme weather, at least the dangerous type. We just have april blizzards that drop 4 feet of snow then its 90 the next week so all the snow melts and floods ur houses out =/

although it does tend to swing from 10 degrees to 95+ in a weeks time in the spring and fall, and thats a lil disconcerting...

I had a holiday a bit like that - very sunny and hot one day so everyone was in swimsuits and shorts, then hail, rain and cold the next day, so everyone was wearing winter coats over the sun burn. Ow.

i suffered worse conditions than that hurricane at my house a week ago.. 101 mph winds according to the National Weather Service. Thing trashed my property big time. I want to move to Arizona where my AC bill is the only thing causing damage.
