How do YOU spell "Retarded"?

Lets get some bullet points here:

1) "...the Caravan is basically undrivable."
2) "There is virtually no room for a driver..."
3) "...$80,000 worth of audio alone..."
4) "...audio system can't play music."
5) "The sound... a rattling, destructive, marrow-fluttering hum."
6) "...and some of them still live at home. They put all their energy and money into their cars."

Ah the purity of the word RETARDED!

Oh, and, a comment to what one fellow said...
"Yeah, it's weird. But there are people who have tens of thousands of dollars invested in stamp collections, for God's sake. That to me is weird."
Somehow, sir, I think anyone would know the value of a $10,000 stamp collection, even insurance people do. However, an $80,000... wait, let me get this right... non drivable, non music playing "Nissan Pulsar brush-painted a bilious green... driven by a kid sitting on a plastic milk crate" is another story.

74Hz? What good is that? It's not even close to the Brown Noise frequency. :)

Which is 92 cents below the lowest octave of E flat. . .
The earth was hungry, so it ate some people...

Somehow, I get the feeling that Podunkmer or Druhsk might be driving a "Nissan Pulsar brush-painted a bilious green... driven by a kid sitting on a plastic milk crate"

Naw, but I'm going to bet that he's seen the same South Park I have.

On that note, at a music professionals convention last year, a company named Bag End was demoing their new amplification system for bass guitars. I don't remember the explanation of how it worked, but supposedly it can reproduce frequencies as low as 7Hz. That's really low. Most people can't hear below 30Hz, and only a very small percentage of the population can discern frequencies as low as 20Hz.

So they took a 5-string guitar, of which the lowest is a B string tuned to the equivalent of the second-lowest white key on a piano, then detuned the string a whole bunch. They plugged it in, cranked it up, and plucked a note. People came running from all around whipping out different sound meters to figure out what was going on. Nobody could actually hear anything, but they could all feel it. :)

That reminds me of a "reverse" situation...

Back when I was working for a college here in South Carolina, over a period of a week or so, I would walk in the front door and this high pitched noise would drive me nuts.

Everyone kept saying I was nuts, but it was at the same place every time I walked in and out of the front door.

Then, one day, I mentioned it to my boss. She looked at me and said "You are joking, right?" When she saw I was seirous, she laughed and said "They just put in a system to scare the pidgeons away, humans are not supposed to hear it".

Oh man, did I get ribbed for weeks on that one.

Heh. I watched a documentary on some technological advancements of the 20th century, one of which was remote controls, everything from television to bomber drones.

One of the guys at RCA developed a method where pushing the button on the remote would strike a metal rod that would vibrate at 20kHz, which a sonic receiver on the television would pick up and change the channel. They were testing it in the lab and after an hour or so, one of the young female interns in the lab a few tables over finally shouted "If you guys don't cut that out I'm going to go crazy!"

It turns out that women can usually hear higher up in the spectrum than men can, especially younger women. None of the guys working on the remote control could hear the 20kHz ringing, but it was driving the poor girl nuts.

Needless to say, the production version featured a 40kHz tone. :)

At this time, I would like to update my apology, to include the people who were taking fish out of the water to protect them from fires. They too are geniuses compared to THIS moron.

That's like saying "I'm gonna go shoot IV drugs with some homless homosexual Hatian man to bring awareness about AIDS".

To quote Bugs Bunny... Whata maroooon.
