Super tank UA template?

Post by Themageofdeath » Thu Jun 26, 2003 6:05 pm

Anyone know what the templates people are using now to make tanks?

I was thinking somewhere along the line of
100
10
100
10
100
10

With skills:
Spec UA, LIFE, MELEE

Train HEALING etc...
Most of the trainer skill would come later as the Character Developes.

I would also like to have a character that can Evade things, lol. I true melee type. Not one that can take hits and uses a weapon. Ive already played a mage. Thanks for all your input!

Well, just my 2 cents worth... (Read the explinations before you totally dismiss it) :P

Keeping in mind we do have the ability to swap attributes if you end up not liking this...

If, you are truly looking for a tank melee, you are gonna have to stop thinking like a mage at the moment. Don't put as much weight into your magic right now.

You said you wanted someone who evades, yet, you left out half your melee def by leaving Quickness out of the picture, opting for Focus for your magic. And, since we are talking about a melee person, you need your regeneration, I liken it to Mana Conv Mastery for mages.

I'd look more into

100
50
100
50
10
10

Keep the same skillset, with one MINOR change...

Being a melee, there is no real need to SPEC life. You will have time to get a few casts off, but then you are going to need to whip out your weapon and start going to town. Train it, and work on raising it, but no need to waste perfectly good skill credits specing it. STOP THINKING LIKE A MAGE. =)

I'm doing fine casting VI's on monsters now, have been for quite some time.

I'd start with dumping everything I can into your attributes, not your skills. Being a tank, you would want to focus on Coordination which would increase both your UA and Melee.

Again, I might be wrong, what do I know, I've been beating things with a stick for God's sake.

One other thing.

If you are looking for someone who evades better than he hits... well..

50
50
100
100
10
10

Either way, I'd still dump everything I could into Coord for as long as I could.

I started Jena with
100
10
100
100
10
10

Malee , Ua , And Magic D spec

I think she prob would of been better off starting with 50 quick and 50 Focus to help the magic D and cast spells easier. But with starting with 100 quick her malee was always really high to evade evade evade.
Jena - Level 116- UA Queen Slayer
Jasmine Rose - 73 bow
Starra - my little trade bot :)
Dream Angel - 22 mage
Jasmine' -73 (trades mule)

Good tips Peewee. I completly agree.
My additional suggetions?
1> Totally ignore life magic untill about lvl 40-50.
2> You WILL need item magic to portal around with.

The only thing you will really need life magic for before lvl 40 or so is stamina to mana, which comes standard on the new Ulgrims Casting Stein.

Mickie is a lvl 111 that started life as an Aluvian UA Tank. Alluvian UA? I dont know, I musta been drunk. Anyway, she has since been modified to Dagger tank.
First they ignore you, Then they laugh at you, Then they fight you, Then you win.

Hrmm cool, well thanks for the tips. My internet just got back up, not sure what happened there. Im going IG now to create, Ill be looking for a Panzerfaust memeber to swear too so I can get back to the mansion and such. Maybe even one that could help me get on my feet, a weapon and shield. All of the weapons that I have are 250-300 wield so my n00b wont be able to use them.

Thanks Again

I'll be going ingame after I'm home from work tonight. If you still need a patron at that point, I'd be glad to have you swear to me and I can help you out. It will a couple of hours from now before I can get ingame though, so you may already have things covered. :)

Compadre is lvl 169, started 100 in str, coord, focus. He's now ua, melee, life, magic d spec... i friggin love it. This template always has been uber ever since i hit 40 and got mana c. great magics and enough melee to evade a good deal of things (nearly everything once you get high level)... I can't say enough about it.

I'm thinking about starting a new UA character, but if I do, it will probably be with 100 in str, quick, coord. I figure for the first while I won't be fighting any magic casters anyway, and as he starts to grow, I'll transfer the quick over into focus or self. Not sure if that's a good idea to start thay way, but that's what I'm thinking about.

AKKKK

A Melee giving up his Melee Def (quick) for Focus/Self?

Man... might as well go put a robe on now and start carrying an orb around.

what Pee Wee said :grab:
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to.
So that when they turn their backs on you.
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

LOL, I didn't say I would dump everything as soon as I could. :) I think Oof's quick is down to 30. As I have raised melee, I have slowly lowered quickness in order to raise my focus/self/magic defense. I still evade nearly everything I fight, plus now I can vuln anything in VoD.

Of course, I did make the mistake of trying to hunt in the Gauntlet a few days ago... I think I'll be spec'ing melee def before I try that again. :)

even though my guy was low quick he always could do a great deal of evading... and he had enough life to imperil things. Now, in death valley I can evade nearly everything and land imperil/vuln on anything.. best of both worlds.
