AC and Windows Vista

About the middle of June I got a new computer (woo hoo!) and had Vista installed. Work was crazy and I didn't get a chance to re-install AC until close to my villa rent due date. I went to download the patches and it won't let me!! In the meantime I went on vacation and now I'm really bummed since I've probably lost my villa.
The message I get is "Patching failed because you don't have permission to write in your application directory".
Anyone have any ideas for a solution to this? I went to the directory and noticed that under properties all the files are "read-only" I don't know if this is normal or not. I tried changing it and it won't accept the change.

One - you have not lost your villa... turbine have been paying the rent since there is a problem with vista and ac... I dont know all the ins and outs, but they believe the problems have been ironed out as they are going to stop paying the rents next month sometime... you may want to check out the VN boards on how other have gotten it to work.

Phew! Thanks for the info. I haven't kept up with the VN boards or the Turbine boards for a while so while I figured it was there I wasn't sure how far back I had to go!
Let me know how it goes Panz. I'll keep searching too.

It was a pain and I had to try several fixes but I finally got it working. I left clickied on something and said make it Windows XP compatible and viola! it worked!

Decal took a bit of massaging, though.

if thats the case ill never be In Game again!! I have vista! on my new pc.
i think ill go cry now. btw any one got a mop n bucket? LOL

AC on Vista worked fine for me. I'm about to install again. I decided to wipe the drive clean and install.
So, this is i'll let you know.
