I was told about this link and am wondering about it.

http://www.turbinegames.com&item%3dq209 ... scall.html

Formed in 1994, Turbine Entertainment Software is at the forefront of the massively multiplayer ("MMP") online game industry. An innovator of technology, Turbine is breaking barriers in the MMP arena by revolutionizing how stories are told, and empowering players to drive the game-play experience.

Due to lack of interest in the community as of late, we regret to inform everyone that the servers for Asheron's Call (Dark Majesty) will be taken offline May 1, 2003. In an effort to promote Asheron's Call 2, we are offering everyone currently playing AC1 the opportunity to began playing AC2 immediately with a 3 month free trial. Anyone currently playing Asheron's Call will recieve an e-mail in the next few days explaining in full detail.

We apologize for any incovenience this may cause, but we feel that AC2 will provide a more robust, stable environment in comparison to AC1's game engine. Hope to see you all there.

Was wondering if this is a hoax or true.

One wrong appreviation (MMORPG), one typo.
And Turbine would NEVER admit that they are actively promoting AC2.
People are leaving AC1 - as they did all the time - but if you check server numbers the "lack of interest in the community" is not bigger than it was a year ago.

And why should Turbine make a major "monster rebalancing" 2 months before shutting down the servers ?

Definitely a hoax from one of those "buuaaahhh they are destroying AC1 to force people to AC2" weirdos.

But then again - you never know

Turbine's state of the art technology, our "Turbine Engineâ„¢", produces the most sophisticated graphics available for an MMP to date. This Engine, in combination with our capacity to build living worlds, is what sets Turbine games apart from all other MMP entertainment.
