The day after Thanksgiving is the largest shopping day here. This is when many retailers turn a profit for the year, aka, go in to the Black.

Ah, that must be why retailers have tried bringing TG here - altho its NOT an EU tradition or holiday - to drain more money from customers.
Just like Valentines, never had it in EU till 4 years ago, when retailers started seeing "we can make people spend money on totally whacked far out stuff if we bring it here".
OMG consumers are the DUMBEST ever.
:O

I hear ya. I hear there are people that pay money to pretend to be a computer character to fight evil on the computer. And they don't just pay once, but they pay every single month for years.
What a bunch of BOOBS!
err -- wait a minute

LMAO.
But still Panz, TG or VT is NOT an EU tradition, someone (retailers) brought it here to make $$

They didn't start out as big marketing days, but noawadays, anything can have a discount attached to it.

I have never succumbed to the insanity that is Black Friday. Getting up at 4:00 AM the day after the biggest eating day of the year to rush to the store to be one of the first to get that big bargain and stand in the checkout line while fighting (sometimes literally) with everyone else who woke up at 4:00 AM the day after the biggest eating day of the year is not an abuse I want to inflict upon myself. I much prefer to sleep late that day and do my Christmas shopping later in the season.

I know the feeling. I really detest the act of shopping. I don't mind being around a billion people, but stading in line to give my money to someone and fiddling through "thing" after "thing" -- ICK!
We typically buy things throughout the year and do 98% of it online.
So, there's no need to fight with people.
