Starting at 6PM PDT / 9PM EDT on this coming Friday evening, August 5, all experience from creatures killed by Throne of Destiny subscribers will be doubled!

This is for all creature kills -- not quest rewards or experience earned in any other way. The doubled experience will be shared normally to any members of the character's fellowship and passed up to the character's patron. Only Throne of Destiny subscribers are eligible for this bonus.

The bonus experience weekend will end at 9AM PDT / 12PM EDT on Monday, August 8th.

This is not a "server event" or "live event" or whatever.

If you read the (end of the) announcement you recognize that it is a "marketing gag" to promote ToD.

Thats the part that made me see this as an event.

Me too. While the free double xp is cute, it's not a long-term draw for the game. I'm hoping (and believe) it is what Trekman suggests, a marketing ploy, simply an attempt to try more people to try the game. The sad thing is though, that I think it's a HORRIBLE marketing gimmick.

If they want more people to try the game they should give it away free like the original AC did, or at least something similar. I bought the original AC because 1) Panzer made me , and 2) with a $20 price tag an $20 rebate it was free so it was a no risk proposition. And I've given them YEARS of multiple accounts of subscription fees ever since.

I wouldn't have picked the game up off the shelf, or downloaded it, on the tease of double xp for a game that I was already getting zero xp from anyway. Is their double xp weekend indicating that the majority of AC'ers haven't upgraded to ToD yet I wonder?

Well, I can tell you that the XP is just SICK!

In a buff and a quarter I went from the threshold of 127 to 128 with a bit to grow on. Dumped about 240 mil into my UA and prerequisites.

More XP in 75 minutes than I usually make in a 3 months. Which is why it took me almost 5 yrs to hit 126.

Really, it is SICK!
