I've learned one thing in my shortlived online gaming experience...when you get involved in a multiplayer online game you meet people, people who all have different skills and abilities. I honestly believe the networking capabilites from these games are what the internet is truely about, sharing knowledge and not for sharing porn like SOME people in LD use it for

So for you non porn internet savy types...I need your skills...I've got the ieok virus and norton is having a hell of a time getting rid of it. I've found the file and its restricted so here are my questions.
a) I think I read in a post a couple months back about a "free" comp scan for viruses that is pretty good. If someone has that link I'd appreciate it
b) Windows has their own virus thing with the shield and the + in it. It keeps popping up with errors and such on my comp is there a way I can remove that function or is it an Window/IE issue?
c) I have windows 2k pro and I cant seem to format my hard drive (to get rid of ieok) and was wondering how I can go about doing that if all else fails.
d) If there are any norton pros out there I have some PM type questions for you about the program and its settings and would appreciate some help.
Thanks much for your ear and any help you send my way. Time for bed, interview tomorrow morning (after the one I blew today

) Night all

F-prot is a pretty good antivirus program. I have switched to linux but back when I had windows that was what I used.
Good luck!

can't really add more than panz and zat have, so have a smart a$$ reply instead
Computers are much like an Etch-a-Sketch.
You just pick it up, and shake the virus right out of it, good as new

I swear by house call. I had Norton installed for years on my computer but always ran housecall after. It would always catch at least 3 or 4 things that Norton missed. It is free and online. Their buyable version is very good too.. I got smart and bought it.. got rid of that nasty Norton. I have been virus free now for over a year.

AVG is a good AV proggy too.
http://www.grisoft.com They have a free ver.
PC-Cillin and AVG both rate at the top for people that don't read the propaganda from PC Magazine.
If you install anything that has Norton in the name, it had better be right before you detonate the C4 in your machine.

Good Christ the trend micro rocks my socks! I ran a system scan with norton and it picked up like 25 things, ran it with trend and it picked up like 135 and that was spyware only. I'm thinking its time to invest. Thanks much for the great info. And now I'll pass on some of my super secret web info...

More is not always better. There can be false positives, or one could decide to tag cookies as spyware while the other one doesnt. So take a closer look at exactly what they found...

No phun intended, helped quite a few AC'ers with superinfested boxes over the years.
I am sure people that know me will vouch for me if you are a tad nerveous - I am not a baddie
Offer stands for the rest of you LD'ers as well.
