Let's do some brainstorming

Ok, so now whenever I play AC I get frequent screen freezes that last 10-30 sec. If I alt tab out and look at computer usage, the usage is at 100% when I freeze. If I'm tabbed out the freezes don't happen. Is this is a graphics card problem and if so, what are possible fixes.

EDIT - it's not decal.

2nd EDIT - I found out that my card is supposed to have its own IRQ port or something along the lines.. looked it up and it has

IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600
IRQ 16 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
IRQ 16 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller

two host controllers screwing w/ it.. not sure if that could be a problem. No clue how to change the IRQ's either.

do you have anything on the usb or firewire ports actually issuing interrupts??

do you have an usb devices like a printer, keyboard, or mouse?
or any firewire devices like cameras, video cams, etc attached?

yes on the usb, no on the firewire. btw, i just installed a single player game (jedi outcast) and got the same thing.

Well im not gonna tell ya how to change irqs for a certain piece of hardware, there are lots of tutorials available on the web, just search for "changeing irqs" in google, or go to
http://www.tomshardware.com

But it sounds like you could benefit from changeing the irq of either the video card or the usb adapter to an unused one or to a less-used one if none are available.

I have also been having video issuse as of late, also using a Nvidia Ge4 TI 4600.

My usb keyboard was using the same IRQ but move it to a different usb port will let you know if I still have any problems

Try closing down the popup window that you click login on. The one that starts AC, I had some problems with adds that have been on turbo speed, taking all cpu.
