Anyone here use Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition?

Post by Phade » Sat Jul 12, 2003 11:48 am

it doesn't seem to want to run AC in 3d mode with my video card (which it installed fine and found the drivers for itself)

its an Nvidia Riva tnt2 ultra, got the brand new drivers, latest DirrectX, AC is fully updated, no decal yet

The card worked perfectly fine under win2k pro an your or so before I upgraded.

It was a fresh install on a fully formatted drive.

The OS works fine other wise.. haven't tried it on other games to see if its just AC or if the OS can't handle a legacy 3d card.

ANyone have any suggestions?

I have both AC1 and AC2 installed on my server which happens to be Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. As it is "just" an extended version of the Standard Edition I can frankly say that both games work in 3D acceleration mode on Win2003 (btw the core of Win2003 including video handling is the same as in WinXP).

I use a cheap "noname" NVidia GeForce 4 MX card - not more needed on a server, I just picked the smallest card to be supported by both games.
AC1 was not the issue, but AC2 needs more Direct3D features.

Do you get an error message ? Or just a reboot ?
