There should be randomly spawning police officers in game that can arrest PKrs after a kill jail time = 2 days in a dungeon unless your clan does a quest to break u out

Gezundheit! Sorry, I just had to say it
First, I assume you tried re-installing your AOL and had no problems with the installation. That's the first thing to try.
If your phone line is ok, then the problem is either on your end or your ISP's end. If AOL isn't working for you, try someone else. Almost all the major ISP's offer a free intro trial of at least a month. I get discs in the mail regularly for them. You should be able to find one somewhere from another ISP. Often your local phone company offers ISP service. And if you can stay online at all, you can often go to their websites and download the software. Or get a friend with a good connection to go there for you and burn it on a CD.
If the problem is the ISP, this will be the easiest solution. If you try 2 or 3 ISP's and keep having the same problem then you can be fairly confidant that the problem is at your end. At that point you may have to pay someone to check your computer out. Don't assume that the problem isn't AOL just because they say it "should" be working OK.
Good Luck

If the line drops without an error message it is either the fault of the modem (settings) or the phone company, but not the ISP.
AOL does not run the lines, only the servers on the other end of them. And if the AOL server kicks you out you ought to get some message....
Where do you live ? In some countries/regions a certain modem initialization string helps preventing those immediate/quick disconnects, depending on the phone company :
ATS40=1
sometimes
ATS40=0
In your Windows directory you should find a textfile named like "ModemLog_<your modem name>.txt" (Windows XP) or "ModemDet.txt" (Windows 9x).
Maybe it contains a hint of what is happening.
If you want you can either PM it to me or send it to trekman@chello.at
And yes - Cable and DSL are muuuuuucho better than dial-up. You will be surprised - and its more than a sufficient reason to give up a deadly habit (if not even your own health is
